This sacred moment, beautifully recounted in Acts 2:1-21, becomes the catalyst that propels us towards our noble purpose.

Envision a divine connection where individuals converge in purpose, discovering resolute strength within shared values. The disciples experienced this awe-inspiring communion when the Holy Spirit descended upon them. Their unity, a formidable force, propelled them to astonishing feats. As we tread the path of modern Templars, we embody this profound lesson. We unite as brothers, fostering unwavering support and dedicating ourselves to a shared cause. It is in our unity that our impact resonates and the essence of our strength thrives.

Observe the disciples, infused with a divine courage that emboldened them to address the fervent crowd, igniting the embers within their hearts. As contemporary Knights, we encounter a world rife with trials. In these defining moments, we draw upon their audacity, standing firm in our convictions and ardently championing the values of justice, righteousness, and equality. Our courage becomes a resplendent beacon, illuminating the path for others to follow in pursuit of truth.

The prophetic words of Joel reverberate, reminding us of the transformative power of service. As Knights Templar, we wholeheartedly embrace our noble calling to extend compassion and support to those in need. Our hearts, brimming with unwavering empathy and humility, propel us to fulfill our sacred duty. Reflecting on the 2024 Minnesota Grand York Rite Session

The 2024 Minnesota Grand York Rite session has come to a close, marking the 162nd Grand Chapter Convocation, the 154th Grand Council Assembly, and the 159th Grand Commandery Conclave. Hosted by the Best Western Plus Kelly Inn in St. Cloud, the event was a resounding success, offering invaluable experiences to all attendees. Doré wood cuttings

The Year of Our Lord 1866 witnessed the publication of a remarkable two-volume French-language folio edition of the Holy Scriptures, translated from the Vulgate, as La Grande Bible de Tours. And for this worthy and weighty tome, the French artist Paul Gustave Louis Christophe Doré produced 241 woodcuts illustrating the sacred texts. They are gorgeous and immensely popular works of art, dripping with drama and heavy with doom. Published simultaneously in the UK, Doré’s illustrations of the Tours Bible both influenced and were influenced by the Victorian Age (1837-1901). His Old Testament scenes focus on massacres and murderers; his New Testament on sentiment and sapience. He seems to have enjoyed high drama all around. We all know how the lurid bits of the Bible keep the rest of it arresting. The Revelation of Evil

Our middle child has outgrown most of her old stuffed animals, yet two retain their prominence of place: her plush Krampus, and her plush Jersey Devil. Yes, the pastor’s daughter delights in adorable little demons, both of which I bought for her. In fairness, they’re really more fairy tale monsters than anything else: folkloric entities limited to St. Nicholas’ Day and the greater Philadelphia area, respectively. And in these particular renditions, they’re honestly quite cute. Creatures such as Krampus are often claimed to be heathen holdovers from pre-Christian times, but most of that is bunk. Pagans don’t have devils. They didn’t need them. Their gods were bad enough. Devils, by and large, are of Christian conception, and for good reason. The Hebrew Scriptures, which make up the bulk of the Christian Old Testament, are best taken not as a single work but as a library.
