Reflecting on the 2024 Minnesota Grand York Rite Session
The 2024 Minnesota Grand York Rite session has come to a close, marking the 162nd Grand Chapter Convocation, the 154th Grand Council Assembly, and the 159th Grand Commandery Conclave. Hosted by the Best Western Plus Kelly Inn in St. Cloud, the event was a resounding success, offering invaluable experiences to all attendees.
If you missed this year’s session, you missed out on crucial resolutions affecting our esteemed orders. While amendments may seem dry, they are vital for the continued prosperity of our Grand York Rite bodies.
On June 27th, we held the Grand Chapter meeting, where we heard from dignitaries, enjoyed camaraderie, and celebrated the night with the Royal Arch ceremony and awards. The evening concluded with the entertaining Royal Arch Widow’s Degree, a fun event filled with laughter and fellowship among Companions and their ladies.
June 28th saw the Grand Council assembly, following a similar structure. We heard from our leaders, passed resolutions, and elected officers for the ensuing year. Chair degrees were conferred that afternoon and evening. The Grand Banquet featured excellent food and fellowship, culminating in an awards ceremony recognizing members of the Grand Chapter, Grand Council, and Grand Commandery for their merits and future potential. The evening wrapped up with the enjoyable Order of the Lotus.
On June 29th, the Grand Commandery started an hour earlier than the previous two days. We passed resolutions and heard from M:.E:. Grand Master S.K. David Joseph Kussman. After lunch, installations of officers took place, as they had on the previous days. Throughout the event, fellowship was constant—whether in meetings, hallways, elevators, meal tables, or around the building. If you seek Masonic fellowship, look no further than these Grand sessions.
The hospitality room was another highlight, offering a continuous supply of cookies, snacks, and beverages. Despite the array of games available, we spent the time talking and enjoying each other’s company. The silent auction in the hospitality room, benefiting our charities, featured a plethora of items.
If you see Most Excellent Grand High Priest Companion Michael Hilgert, be sure to ask him about his mullet. #IYKYK
In summary, the 2024 Minnesota Grand York Rite session was a time of resolutions, fellowship, and fun. It was an opportunity to deepen our bonds, celebrate achievements, and look forward to a prosperous future for our Grand York Rite bodies.
